Another big win for the Padres last night...April's been a blast so far. I was at my place last night listening to the game with MLB Gameday Audio when I finally realized how much better it would be to watch the games on TV. Since we hadn't had Cox at home for about a year and I still don't have it at my place, it's been a REALLY long time since I've watched a game outside of a bar or restaurant. Man it's gonna be nice.
If all goes well, I could get all the basics for my living room this weekend. I think I know which entertainment center and couch I want, and I may even check out some new TVs.
I already got this awesome bar table and bar stools so we can drink good beer. It's actually a pretty sweet setup if I do say so myself.

Work was long on Thursday in anticipation for the weekend at Coachella. After filling our coolers with ice and our stomachs with one last burrito (and ice cream), we hit the road for Indio. We took the 79, which was a little too windy for our liking but probably steered us away from some heavy traffic. However, it wouldn't be long before we finally caught up to it:
After we set up our own camp that night, we got a shot of the vast space littered with tents:
We spent most of the days getting free shit, checking out new music and trying to stay cool and hydrated. First big act on Friday was Them Crooked Vultures, followed by Jay Z. Both really good:
The Legend:
Jay Z:
Saturday, RX Bandits:
I had to suffer through Faith No More and the beginning of Muse's act as the crowd got more and more tight. Too bad my shitty G1 camera doesn't do the spot justice:
Sunday, Yo Gabba Gabba!
Wet T-Shirt Dance Stage:
Julian Casablancas:
Thom Yorke:
Gorillaz:
Overall, a pretty good weekend. The crowds were enormous and there were too many druggies, but we survived and saw some pretty good stuff.

Here are some pictures from the top of Cowles Mountain, which we climbed this morning. It was awesome, a great way to start your Sunday.
Although we thought it was about a 5 mile hike round trip, it's actually only 3. The whole thing really isn't that tiring, so we should do it again soon for a sunrise or sunset. Would be cool.
And I guess it's pronounced ''coals'', not ''cow-ells''. Now that I think about it, I faintly remember my dad telling me that a long time ago.

Wow, that was a little scary. It's been a ground-breaking Sunday so far: Easter service, new guitars, and 7.2 earthquake. Maybe it was actually the aftershock of a giant stone being rolled from someone's tomb! Haha no, that's silly. It was likely the San Andreas Fault. Anyway, I'm not much of an organized church-goer anymore but I do enjoy Easter Sunday and I come home feeling pretty god. I mean good.
This year was even better though because I chased that pious feeling with new baseball gloves and guitars from Grossmont Center. I finally got my got my new (factory sealed) SG and Sunburst Telecaster, although I had to physically go into Guitar Center for the third time and pay the guy a visit. I'm not quite sure how long they'd been in their store, but he definitely had them and DIDN'T give me a call! Oh well, he was a pretty nice guy anyway, just not a business man. He thought it was cool that Everett, Mark and I were all jamming in the acoustic room for a while. After that, we walked over to Sports Authority to buy Mark a new glove. So....can we start playing again?
So the Yankees and Red Sox are on, I'm eating peanuts and drinking New Castle. It's gonna be a goooood summer for sure.
Oh and I signed the lease on my new apartment this weekend, so this is my two-week notice for being a Santee resident : )
01 April 2010
It's April, finally. Baseball season is here.
If you haven't paid any attention to the Padres during spring training, which most haven't, then you're probably going into the regular season with the same expectations as previous years. And since you probably missed the last couple months of last season, you should be aware, however, that this team is younger, faster, scrappier, and overall more exciting than what we're used to here in San Diego. If you're not on the bandwagon, now's the time to jump on before it's too late and you will be dubbed a front-running, fair-weather fan like the rest of this city. Not this year, maybe not next year, but soon San Diego will be making a run for it and giving the older clubs a lesson in youth and agility, along with pitching and defense. And when that time comes, you can proudly say you were there from the start.
No one really cares or knows anything about baseball; it's boring, slow, and difficult to appreciate. This is Charger town, and no one's going to ditch that party for baseball. I understand that. We like our athletes big, fast, powerful, drunk and draped with gold chains while they plow 13 different women before gametime Sunday morning. God bless America. But the tides have turned and the Chargers' chances, along with their payroll, are in decline. Do you really want to spend another fall with high hopes and quick, cheap thrills only to be let down in the end like a bad stock market pick? I don't.
