If you're noticing a change in scenery, it's because I spent all day tweaking my old Blogger template. Now I can apply seasonal color schemes online as well as at home! It actually needs a little more work to liven it up, but I'll save that for another day.

Looks like my old set of keys that I lost in Kate's garage were found! It made me think about all the things that have been lost or broken the past few years, which I have just recently found/fixed:

I bet this Saturday the weather will be nice and we're going to play OTL at the park. I also have whiffle ball now! After that we're going downtown to see music and get free drinks from bimbosaurus. Can't wait!

With all this free time on my hands now, video games have become my new guilty pleasure. Between that and all the downloaded TV shows and Blu Ray movies, I can feel my brain rotting away as I stare at my screen more and more everyday. Excellent!

Heavy Rain comes out today, so I may go pick that up. I wanted to wait for Final Fantasy XIII before I spent $60 on a game, but this one looks pretty good. Both look really good actually. I've debated whether I should just rent more games, but I realized I'm just not a ''subscriber''. Whether it's at the store or through some Netflix online service or whatever, it ends up costing almost $10 just to rent the damn thing for a few days. That's one thing for a two hour movie but a different story for a 20+ hour game. There's also Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker coming soon, but any PSP games are easily downloaded for free.

And I don't know what's up with my guitars. Well, I half know. The Telecaster is actually being custom made for my order because supposedly the 2-tone sunburst color is a Guitar Center exclusive and won't be ready until mid March. It will be worth the wait.



The SG, however, was said to be ready a week ago. Don't know what's up with that.



What else...oh yeah, I just watched Gorillaz' Demon Days Live. One of my favorite albums. I always thought that Gorillaz did some kind of animated live show, but that may have just been some special case for TV or something. This was just a ton of musicians on stage, led by Damon Albarn and supported by different visuals and whatnot. The album was reproduced well though and must have been great to see live. They still stand to be the best act at Coachella.

Anyway...I'm bored. I'm ready for less rain and more baseball.

Been kinda quiet around here lately, it seems like we've hit those months where there's not much going on except school, rain, and (ugh) basketball. The super bowl turned out to be what was expected; a well-fought battle between two top-notch quarterbacks. Peyton could have made it slightly more interesting in the final half of the fourth quarter instead of throwing a pretty ugly pick, but I suppose New Orleans does deserve it. Congrats.

I'm looking forward to whatever happens for all the February holidays, whether it be Valentine's Day or Mardi Gras. I haven't been doing much except playing BioShock and watching way too much 30 Rock. I think I had a dream about Tina Fey a while ago, which doesn't seem healthy.

And I'm still waiting for my guitars to come in. Guitar Center said two weeks, but I think it's been longer...I can't remember though.

I think I'm still recovering from Friday night, but that was way too much fun.

I bought two new guitars last Thursday, '72 Reissue Thinline Telecaster and an SG Classic. I actually took home the floor models but I'm going back to get new ones once they come in. Will post pics then.

I wasn't alone in thinking that 2009 music was ho-hum, but I'm excited for 2010 to make a comeback. Here's a good list of what we may expect here.

Also, there's at least 3 people heading to Coachella this year in April. If you haven't seen the lineup and wanna come along, check it out here!

Blog's gettin' a little empty and I've been killing myself at work all week, so I think a post is in order.

I've made a point leave work out of the conversation in this thing, but it has been really cool lately with all the web development and video production stuff I've been doing. I don't know when it happened, but I've become a full-fledged IT man at this little company. I already know 2010 is the breakout year and there's even bigger shoes to fill.

Anyway, Everett, Dad and I are heading to Anaheim for NAMM on Saturday morning to check out the latest advances in music instrument and equipment technology. Still don't know if there' going to be any big names attending, but if possible I'd like to come back with a new guitar or something.

I'm really more excited about the Charger game on Sunday though. And although we're going to keep the ''party'' low-key, there will be nothing quiet about this game. It's what football is all about, and I'm pumped.

As for tonight, I'd like to go to the brewing company or something if anyone's down. Just to hang out, nothing crazy.

Oh man, what a great New Year's weekend. With the family still in Tucson, I spent the entire preceding week doing nothing but work on my resume and cook. So New Year's Eve I wasn't really ready or willing to do anything crazy, but it turned out to be a really good night. The party at Ryan's old place was really fun, and the best part was taking the trolley there, which added an adventurous element to the trip while keeping us safe.

Also, the whole UFO thing was quite a trip. Everyone at work this morning is talking about it and I'm glad I walked outside in time to see it that night. Really can't explain it, but it makes for some good conspiracy thinking. Absinthe was the perfect compliment to it.

After leaving right after a half-day of work on Thursday, it's been a pretty low-key but entertaining Christmas family vacation. As soon as I got here I immediately started eating: catered Souplantation-style dinner Thursday night, homemade brunch and turkey dinner all day Friday, and leftovers in about an hour. Its really my favorite par since now that I'm older I don't receive a ton of presents like I used to. Now that the holiday madness is pretty much over, my plans are to pay off my hefty credit card bill, fix my PS3 (or possibly buy a new one, not sure yet :/) and build a new computer which will take its spot as the main entertainment source. I also want new Levis, but I'll shelf that for now.

Darick and I are getting up early tomorrow morning to head back to Santee, so see you when we return. I'll leave you with a pic of Kizzy's grumpy husband Spike:

As anyone would be thankful for, my long week of vacation finally came to an end. My finals were stress-free, I got 99% of my shopping done and still had time to record a new song with DK. I realized I feel somewhat disconnected without getting up every morning, so I neglected the blog for a while and haven't read much news. And even though I would like this to be my transition back into the swing of things, I have the two following Thursday and Fridays off for Christmas and New Year. Hooray.

As for this week, everybody's gifts are ready to go for our own Christmas exchange. Justyn's birthday is tonight, so everyone should be happy before the Kowalski's drive away to Tucson on Wednesday.

Today starts my official week off of work, which I desperately needed during summer when I scheduled it. I was tempted to postpone it since I have so much time coming up for Christmas and New Year anyway, but I also purposefully scheduled it during finals week. And now I'm glad I have the time to study, because so far that's all I've done today and there's still plenty more to do. In fact I'm at State right now and should be here for another 3 hours at least. I'm having fun though without the added work load from my job.

For the rest of the week, I plan on mostly studying for my huge stats final Saturday morning at 8:00. I also have to finish Christmas shopping, re-vamp my resume and get it up on the net. I hope to have an internship by the time January is over. Of course, no vacation should go without some fun too, so if anyone wants to plan some late-night hangouts, studying or not, I'm all for it.

And of course, the weekend was great too. The Chargers are now America's team, and the Holiday Hootenanny came through and was worth all 38 bucks. Although a lot of the sounds didn't translate well for anybody in that arena, Phoenix was really the most fun and lively band, but I would give it to Spoon for being the tightest and best sounding overall. White Rabbits was a nice new surprise, since we hadn't really heard much of them before the show but they played well live. Of course Vampire Weekend was a crowd pleaser, and the coolest part was hearing a lot of new songs that will probably end up on their next album. Manchester Orchestra I never want to see again, they were shit and I stand by that. Overall though, a great show and we'll see if they can top it next year.

Just so you know, the podcasts are going pretty well and we already have three completed. We all agreed to take a little break since everyone is busy with finals, but we will resume after the holiday season madness is over. In fact, since we're waiting for our logo from Tiffany anyway, I'm going to hold off on hosting them until it is completed.

In other news, I and the other show goers are way excited for the FM 94.9 Holiday Hootenanny on Saturday. I've been listening to Manchester Orchestra and White Rabbits the last few weeks, who are pretty good, but I can't wait to see the more familiar (and better) Spoon, Vampire Weekend and Phoenix. Free BBQ before the show, and I'm sure we'll visit Porter's Pub while we're pre-gaming.

Also, I've gotten a good deal of my Christmas shopping done already and I hope to have it totally finished before the last day of Chanukah (the 19th). I have the entire week of the 14th off so I'm going to be busy with that, my two finals, and other fun I hope comes up.

I know it's been a really long time since my last post, but I was waiting for my next one to have a link to our podcast. As it turns out, it's been a little slow getting it up (TWSS). We have two episodes under our belt, one that's edited and one raw which I'll work on this week. We also plan or recording a third one Wednesday. As of now, we've distributed the MP3 to a few people and heard a few good things, but keep in mind it's a work in progress. I hope to have a lot of episodes under our belt before we post them on iTunes anyway, and before that happens I have to buy a place to host them. I'd like to wait on THAT until after the holiday season. Soon though, be patient...

Thanksgiving was great as well. We had one of the biggest family gatherings ever at our house, including friends who met a lot of my family. Darick came home from Santa Cruz, the AZ cousins hung out all weekend, and we got a ton of Christmas shopping done. The Charger game on Sunday was a nice way to end the weekend.

As for December, I hope to get a lot accomplished. We should have a full swinging podcast, some new homebrew to talk about, and I can start putting this degree to good use. Grossmont during Spring is going to be fun as well. See you there!
